Lucy's Kimono from Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross

Easy to sew, took a little longer than it might have because I didn't want any raw seams, so pressed them open and then pressed each seam allowance under and stitched down. I used a french seam for the sleeve. It's a little bunched up under the arms - but I've noticed this on other examples in the flickr group too.

The fabric is a light printed linen from Ikea. I think there is a mistake in the book - 1/2yard of bias tape was not enough perhaps it should be 1 1/2 yards? The shop had only 65 cm of this colour left, just enough to bind the kimono without ties. I'll add poppers to fasten the sides - I'm waiting to find out whether my friend is expecting a boy or a girl before I sew them on!
